Many camphor trees are planted on the Inuyama Campus. In this season, they cover the hills of the campus with bright green. Camphor trees are the symbol of Kyoto University, and the camphor tree in front of the clock tower is also used in the emblem design. There is a cafeteria named "Camphora" in front of the clock tower, which is named after the scientific name of camphor tree. According to a professor emeritus, the camphor tree was planted because of its affiliation with Kyoto University, even though this campus is located far from Kyoto.
