MISSION

・・・

Through experimental research on nonhuman primates, which are our closest evolutionary relatives, we will elucidate the evolutionary origins of human behavioral characteristics, thereby leading the world in knowledge creation. We also promote biomedical research that addresses today's societal issues related to individual development and aging, psychiatric and neurological disorders, and infectious diseases. Such research is difficult to conduct without using nonhuman primates. Furthermore, through these avenues of research, we aim to make wide-ranging proposals concerning the nature of human society. We will contribute broadly to domestic and international research communities by providing a wealth of experience and knowledge of nonhuman primate research combined with a place for collaborative research that is founded upon world-class resources. As part of the Division of Biological Sciences of the Graduate School of Science, we will educate leading experts who can advance and expand initiatives toward the above-stated aims.
